SEVENTY-SIX TROMBONES (from The Music Man)
Seventy-six employees were forced a 2
And A-Hundred and Ten were force ranked a 3
They were followed by scores and scores of more 1s, 2s, 3s, and 4s
And I wonder who will number me…
Seventy-six people will opine on me
And seventy-five don’t know what I do
If we are forced to rank
All involved will say it stank
Just like something scraped off someone’s shoe.
It is more important to support esprit de corps
Sneak attack! Watch your back! Ranking doesn’t work
The only 4s we need to give are to reprove
Those who didn’t move
Up to Hartford from New York
Probably six more times we will protest this
Then we will no longer fight
As our resumes take flight
And King George will wish he hadn’t tried.
